Do they? That have about twice as many losses as the Texas Stars.

I mean I don't watch the games or anything, but I'm guessing they don't have a bunch of AHL superstars.

All their talented young kids are playing in the NHL. Having a 1st place AHL team isn't exactly a good thing.

Obviously, but I think you have missed the point of my question and skipped into something else.

You can't expect me to read an entire thread about minor league hockey.

AHL is minor league? Last I checked they were rejected professionals.

They've got 2-3 better prospects, including Maata (who everyone thought the Stars would draft after Grigorenko fell off the board), but I don't think they're in the AHL just yet (tho they may be now). JoMo's issues seem to have been with the coaching there: he claims they "broke" his game by "nitpicking" him, the coaches laugh that off as "detail work, " and writers who watched him dominate in the whl and get sratched in the ahl claim he lost his confidence, took too long to make decisions, and overthought everything instead of just acting. So basically exactly like Goligoski after he signed that contract.

I don't know. Throwing out a guess.

But all of a sudden he gained all of that swagger back last night? Most of my questioning was in response to BigG44's raving about how amazing he looked, including actually the playing of defense.

And Goligoski never looked amazing. He looked "pretty good" at times, but never amazing. And I doubt that his sucking has to do with overcoaching. Probably just has to do with getting more important ice time.

I think "confidence" is pretty important, esp. for young guys. Finding out that your draft team dumped you for a struggling fourth liner might light a fire underneath some people.

I think quotation marks are pretty important, esp. for emphasizing words used to describe young hockey players.

I think there's a psychological factor at work here. Some players just have a certain "good at ice hockey" thing going for them. Others it turns just don't have that intangible "good at ice hockey" characteristic.

AHL contract@AHLcontract
According to @TVASports, @TexasStars signed Étienne Boutet to a AHL contract for 2013-2014. #ahl

When Ritchie comes up next season, does he still get to wear #20? :)

That is an excellent question. He's kept it throughout, and someone gave up the 20 in Niagara (I think) when he went over there.

Either that or we acquired their #20.

This Don Cherry joke may sound better when drunk.

Y'know, we don't need no stinkin' NHL team when we got the other professionals doin' a much better job! They oughta move to Dallas! Smarten up!
