So next season, the Stars will probably have Faksa and Dikinson taking the spots of Fiddler and Eakin.
I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.

Unfortunately, you can still tell Fiddler and Eakin are leagues better than Faksa. He still has his work cut out for him.

Sure, but the cap may require some on the job training. Seguin-Spezza-Eakin would have to be the most expensive center trio in the league next season when Eakin's salary takes a big jump. Can the team afford to have the most expensive goalies and centers?

I don't know that they're a combined $5m+ better.

So long as we have the most affordable Norris candidate.

We'll be fine. I plan to buy a whole bunch of season tickets at the last minute and drive up the salary cap.

And they could end up ultra cheap on D if they embrace the youth movement.

I think it is pretty obvious to say that a lot of it depends on how far they get this year. The farther in the playoffs they go, the more likely they bring older expensive vets back. If they lose in the first or second round, I'd say they let some of them go and try younger, cheaper guys. The defense could be very different next year if Goligoski and Demers are gone.

Guryanov made the cut for Russia's WJC team.

Is that different from the one he already played in and scored 6 goals in 5 games? Was that the under 18 WJC?

I noticed he hasn't really done much in his KHL games this year.

Bust?

He's getting 6-8 minutes a night as an 18 year old. So, not exactly burning up the league, but the KHL seems especially hard on teenaged prospects (Ovechkin had 2 goals in 21 games at the same age in roughly the same minutes, for example).

Well that's basically what he has too.

So, he's the next Ovechkin then. Got it.

I like how every single Russian prospect ever is compared to Ovechkin, regardless of their actual game or abilities.

That's not entirely true. Nichushkin was compared solely to Malkin.

I would rather have Malkin than Ovechkin, but I suppose I would take Ovechkin.

If you really pressed me, I'd be accepting of Nichushkin or Guranov being like either Malkin or Ovechkin.

I heard him compared to both. But really he's neither. Closer to Malkin, for sure. Actually, I can't think of too many pass-first, graceful-skating, puck-possession-beast Russian players.

Well, except for one... Zubov.

Fedorov? Larionov? Or do you mean modern?

There was awhile when it seemed like they were all like that and that's how they made them. Then Pavel Bure came along.

As a winger? No Russian probably compares. I would suggest a guy like Sergei Makarov, but I never really saw him play outside of the week he was a Star.

Also I'm pretty sure you're thinking of Valeri Kamensky. I don't remember Makarov ever playing here.
