So Campbell will make an excellent AHL backup goalie. Awesome.

Good. Guryanov basically wasted an entire season in the KHL for a coach that never plays youngsters. Still managed to lead his team in shots/60. Going to the ECHL or QMJHL would've been a far better decision.
Fun fact I just found from wikipedia: his team, Lada Togliatti, was kicked out of the KHL five years ago for having an "unsatisfactory" arena.

I hope so. They're going to need a pure shooter, after Shore and Dickinson are on next year's NHL roster.

There's going to be a hole to be filled in the "lazy Russian" department on the NHL roster after Val gets shipped out this summer.

But what if he gives up 2-3 easy goals a game? That would be catastrophic in a theoretical first-round series against a team with no offense.

Texas lost to SD last night, 6-1. They are down 2-1 in the best of 5, so tonight could be curtains. Campbell started last night. SD did put up 48 shots.

They desperately need Faksa and Johns back in the lineup.

On Landon Bow
“He was a bit of a late developer, but he’s a big goalie that moves well in the net,” Stars director of amateur scouting Joe McDonnell said. “He was stuck in a tough spot until the trade to Seattle and we’re hoping he’s a late bloomer. He hasn’t really gotten the off-ice conditioning and physical side down, that’s something we are going to help him with.”

One scout said he relied too much on his size in the WHL and didn’t challenge enough, which may come back to haunt him against AHL shooters. He also used his size as a crutch and spent more time on his knees, which will be another habit he’ll have to break in the AHL or ECHL.

The same scout did say Bow is rarely caught out of position and is usually square to the puck, while he’s been able to make big saves when needed.

Big, out of shape goaltender who uses his size as a crutch and often stays too deep in net?

He'll fit in perfectly here.

Good read on Mattias Backman, who I'm already going to pencil in as "better than all our departing UFAs."

Stars AHL game was on the sports alternate channel. Stars won 2-1 over Colorado's AHL team.
Landon Bow started, he looked good, No one else really stood out for the Stars, Denis Guryanov is at the World Juniors. Nick Ebert and Gemel Smith scored the two goals.

Today's Stars game.
Backman ties it in the final minute vs the Avs AHL team, and then Guryanov wins it 9 seconds into OT. Stransky had the other two goals for the Stars.

Gurianov another game winner, Honka also scored.

Coach Laxdal expanded on Gurianov's new role, "We've elevated him in the lineup to get him more ice time. The goals [in the past two games] were great goals by him in key moments. It's nice from a coaching standpoint to see him grow his game."

Gurianov started the year in a top 9 role but is clearly cementing himself into a top 6 position. Laxdal even noted that he will be moving Gurianov onto the Stars penalty kill to take advantage of his speed.

Gurianov would notch his game-winner unassisted in the third. Postgame, he noted that he feels much more confident after his stint at World Juniors, "I feel better, a little bit better. I played a lot in World Juniors and I [am playing] a lot now in Texas."

Laxdal continued, "He's a first round pick with great wheels. Early in the season, he had good looks but wasn't scoring. Now he's burying those chances."
