McKenna has stopped 91 straight shots over two games (one in relief).

It's weird how a player like McKenna can do really well in the AHL and just have a big bag of nothing in the NHL.

He had one really good game for us, and one really bad one. That's a pretty small sample size.

Yeah. But, he's really old in hockey player years and has never had a shot at the NHL. There must be a reason for that.

There's a big difference in quality of play between the AHL and NHL. There are plenty of players that are excellent AHL players that still aren't quite good enough to be regular NHL'ers.

The only guy beating McKenna in the playoffs is the one who stopped 94 of 95 shots in the five-OT longest-in-AHL-history game:

This time of year for these young guys to get that kind of exposure and that kind of experience helps their game galvanize a little bit," said Texas Stars coach Derek Laxdal. "Gavin has really taken some huge steps. I thought Roope Hintz in overtime really took a step in his game. I thought Denis Gurianov really took another step.

The playoffs are really the best measure of how good a player is going to be. It's one thing to rack up three or four points in Game 57 in January against the Birmingham Bumblefucks, but the playoffs are a whole different level (i.e., probably closer to actual NHL duty). Benn was phenomenal in his minor league playoff run... these guys aren't quite on that level but they're obviously playing pretty well.

Hopefully Nill can spend $4 million on another two or three UFAs to clog up the pipeline again and make sure these kids get seven minutes a night once a week.

Marlies are within two games of the Calder Cup final.
It's actually gonna happen!

Tell him to send Nill his resume. A Montgomery-Nelson-Keefe staff would be like the 1950s NY Giants that had both Tom Landry and Vince Lombardi.
