the Rangers can't even afford to sign Shanahan, no way they sign Sundin.

i'm so sick of this guy. he's either gonna play for the Leafs, play in Sweden or Retire.

that's all we've been hearing for 5 years now. PICK ONE!

Rotoworld
Minnnesota Wild General Manager Doug Risebrough and assistant GM Tom Lynn flew to Slovakia to convince Marian Gaborik to remain with the team when his contract expires in 11 months.
It's no secret that Gaborik thinks he could get more goals in the Eastern Conference. At the 2008 All-Star Game Gaborik stated, "Sometimes you think how it could be in an Eastern system, in a more offensive system. There's more offense there for sure." Risebrough and Lynn pointed out to the Slovak sniper that he ranks fourth in the league in goals per game, first in even-strength goals per minute. Gaborik is second only to Alexander Ovechkin when it comes to goals per 60 minutes played.

Nashville Predators General Manager David Poile would rather play prospects than sign on free agent vets Mark Parrish or Glen Murray.
In a bit of a bind until the International Ice Hockey Federation ruling on the status of Alexander Radulov, Poile said, "Right now what I think is best for the Predators is our younger players. That could change. But right now I feel like they deserve a chance and that's kind of the direction we're going." That bodes well for Patric Hornqvist, Ryan Jones and Antti Pihlstrom.

Funny wonder where Parrish is going to end up signing now.

Pretty funny how if you're a middle-of-the-road 20-something you get rewarded with a huge contract (Ryder, Hagman) but if you're a middle-of-the-road 30-something you can't even find a team to sign with.

I'm not saying I'm strong on Parrish, but it's hard to imagine he's that far below Hagman or Ryder.

and now Sundin's agent is denying interest in the Rangers

that does it.

i'm not posting anymore Sundin news.

it's pointless.

It's pointless on boards if the posts don't get indexed on search engines, but for blogs its a great way for traffic.

Ladislav Nagy has signed with Cherepovets in Russia.
A bit odd considering the Kings beat writer basically said he had a spinal cord injury.

Vancouver fans will decide the design Curtis Sanford will wear on his goalie mask this season.
"At the end of last season I mentioned it as an idea to someone in the organization," Sanford said. "We just kind of felt that in a city like Vancouver the response would be huge and I hope it will be." They are receiving submissions until August 25th, so get your artistic juices flowing.

Todd White will likely end up as the Thrashers' number two center this season.
Erik Christensen is expected to play on the top line Ilya Kovalchuk this campaign. Bryan Little could challenge for the second line center spot as well, but he may end up on the wing. Training camp should answer these lineup questions.

Maybe the Thrashers should sign Yanic Perreault, he'd beat out White for the #2 center.

Damn, we're spoiled as hell with centers. Imagine getting excited about things in Atlanta this year. Atlanta has nothing to show down the middle, meanwhile we're rolling out Richards, Ribeiro, and Modano.

And remember what happened the last time the Stars were so deep down the middle.

We played a few of them on the wing and missed the playoffs?

Yeah, having Turgeon worked out well for us.

Well at least this time we might actually have a couple of wingers who can score. The differences between 2008 and those clubs are night and day. Give me the kids fighting for a spot, plus Morrow, Lehtinen, Avery, and Eriksson rather than the Scott freaking Youngs of the world.

Flaherty was actually with the Blackhawks/Rockford Ice Hogs last season. He played in Vancouver for a fews years prior to that.

An update

Scott Howson wrote:"He said he didn't feel like playing, he'd lost his desire. So he went home, with our permission. We were back healthy in Syracuse and didn't need him, so we just told him to get ready for this season. We didn't have much contact early in the off-season, but then he came to the development camp in Columbus, which was a really good sign, to me."

"He had lost his passion for the game and didn't want to play any more. The strange thing for me is that, from the way he plays, he's the last kid you'd expect this from. He's passionate and always plays with abandon. He's a Darcy Tucker type."

Tampa still lacking in forwards, invites Tyson Nash to their training camp.
I quit counting how many forwards they have on one way deals and one more roster forward(Stamkos) it has to be near 18 forwards now with 17 on one way deals.

Most dives fans probably think the league will cancel the season to allow proper mourning time. Some may even call for the NHL to fully disband.

I'll be very sad if he is retiring.

Much as I can't stand the Avs, Sakic was always the epitome of excellence and class.
