I'm still surprised no one has signed Shanahan or Yelle. I can see on Gelinas since he's coming off the knee injury.

I thought the same thing, but then wondered if maybe Yelle wasn't doing well in Calgary the last few years. I don't keep up with other teams as much as I should, but I always liked him.

Yelle is still useful maybe not as a third liner, but as a player that can win faceoffs and play on the PK.
Looking over the complete list still quite a few good faceoff players Kevyn Adams, Perreault, Smolinski out there as well.

At least now I'm not expecting a announcement on Barnes until right before training camp, or basically in a month.

The team is still awaiting word on whether the 35-year-old Matvichuk will accept. If Matvichuk accepts he'll be with former coach Ken Hitchcock, whom he played for with the Dallas Stars.

Have any of you guys heard any more about this? I did a quick search yesterday, but I didn't find anything.

Nothing really more to report on it since training camps haven't started yet.

I was wondering if he accepted the invitation. I guess I will have to be patient.

Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos has learned that Toronto Maple Leafs defencman Bryan McCabe has reportedly waived his no-trade clause and may be headed to the Florida Panthers.

There are several teams reportedly interested in the much-maligned Leafs' blue liner. However, sources in South Beach, Florida tell Sportsnet that the Panthers are interested in McCabe because reports indicate that defenceman Jay Bouwmeester is not interested in signing an extension with the Panthers.

However, this does not mean that a McCabe-for-Bouwmeester deal is in the works.

Sportsnet

If it happens can expect more goals against for the Panthers.

Not only has he accepted, he's also asked LeClaire if they can start training early together so he can figure out just exactly the best way to deflect the puck into his own team's net.

Radulov the moron.

In front of dozens of microphones, after the press conference, Radulov was more decisive with his answers:
A. Radulov:I can understand both sides. But the position of the Continental Hockey League has significantly more weight: NHL for 15 years brought young players from Europe, first and foremost from Russia. I think that it is time to end this. Simply put: time to stop robbing us!

I'm sure the NHL forces these Russians to come over to NA, Radulov for example went and played in the Canadian Hockey League before the NHL.

Penguins lose Ryan Whitney for 3 to 5 months, they'll probably be looking for a defenseman.

They would have been a good trading partner, but they lost the young talent we'd want at the deadline and free agency.

I wouldn't mind Alex Goligoski and a 3rd rounder or prospect for Robidas, or Boucher.

Whitney's injury could actually increase the chances of Sydor cracking the Pens line-up.

He could certainly fill the void left by Jagr, but there are cap issues the Rangers would need to sort out. How do they free up around 5 million dollars (since they only have 2 million in space now)? They'd have to give up quite a bit or one of their marquee players to even fall under the cap.

Seems unlikely, at best. But I would love to see Sundin sign for millions less than offered by Vancouver, just to shut those fans up something fierce.

It would be funny if he signed with the Stars for $3.5 million or less for one year, though I know it won't happen.
