Burnside's picks

3. Dallas Stars
Stars are deep down the middle, have a nice collection of emerging defensemen and a bona fide leader in Brenden Morrow, and added a nice agitating touch in Sean Avery. Did they overachieve in advancing to the Western Conference finals for the first time since 2000? We don't think so.

3rd in the West, behind Detroit and Sharks.

Detroit I can see, but I bet the Sharks continue the meltdown streak.
Winamp - it really whips the llama's ass.

I just can't see San Jose being better than us this season, for some reason. I dunno. Maybe I'm just a homer (which I know I am), but they've done absolutely nothing to improve their team.

I never understood the love for the Sharks. They have never done anything. There has yet to be a season where we couldn't hang with them completely. The only Pacific team to really have our number for a season is Anaheim.

The Sharks did a lot that basically amounted to treading water.

I still don't see how replacing Campbell and Rivet with Blake, Lukowich, and Boyle makes that all that much better.

Of those five, Rivet plays the best D and is the most physical, and he's now gone. The Sharks had an impossible time countering Morrow and Ribeiro along the boards. I don't think they did anything to improve that.

Maybe adding Blake and Boyle will help their transition game with better passing out of their end, but on the whole, they are only slightly better. But I'm also not one who is impressed at all with Blake now.
I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.
