They haven't had anything to work with because their team has sucked donkey balls for over a decade now.
They finally have youth and actually have a great goalie on their team now. The addition of Jokinen only makes them better (despite having no defense now).
I'm sorry but I don't think a decade is enough time to prove if a hockey market will succeed or not. Do you seriously think Dallas would be as stable as they are now, if they had the suckage that Phoenix has had?
I don't live in Texas so I don't know if this is true. But I heard hockey overall is starting to become really popular. Like there are alot of minor hockey league for kids and stuff like that.
I doubt any of this happens in Phoenix.
Sure I might help that the Stars have been consistantly good. But you still don't really know.

It's all about timing.
Dallas began winning when the other teams were sucking. Perfect timing.
Again this year, the other teams were sucking and Dallas went on another run. And the city if back on the bandwagon.
I'm not trying to defend Phoenix cause I've never even been there....but I think a lot of things are about to turn for the better for the franchise over there.
