I bet the new season starting with a half empty arena lead to the Stars cutting his pay to $20 and free refills at the concession stand.
I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.

Theres only so much someone that plays music is worth. Sure it adds to the ambiance, but honestly they could just play the top hits from the past 30 years on a loop and be fine. No one would really care. Or at least not like the music was why they came to the game.

Re: 2020 Stars Off-Season Thread
I remember going to White Sox games in the 90s *specifically* because of the organist there. She was a little old lady who would play songs that were somehow related to the batter's name, birthplace, or some obscure factoid. It was a game-within-a-game to figure out (a) what the song was and (b) what it had to do with the current player. In short, she *fargin'* ruled!
I do not think that Grubes ever approached that level of awesome.

I never realized he was the one doing the sound.
I did like the song choices though.
But whatever man.

Yeah, I thought the music at Stars games was good. He must be from Denton.

The one thing he was better at than others was inserting appropriate ticket drops at the right time. Which is a limited audience for sure, but still. He usually landed them pretty well.
Honestly, I would think it'd be more fun to work for the Stars. I love baseball and all that, but so much of it seems like prescribed bits. Seems like there'd be more flexibility with the Stars. I know he's a HUGE Rangers fan tho, so who knows.

The workload alone makes the Stars a better choice. 41 home games vs 82.
What I liked about Grubes is he went away from the Jock Jams cds and classic rock top 40 being the only song selections played. But since I never go to games any longer, it didn't matter that much to me. It was only a bit of background noise between whistles.

I assume he'll retire once the contract is up. Damn shame.

The Stars have one hell of a drop off at D after the top four. I guess we'll see if Harley even gets a shot this time. In his case, it's hard to improve much in only a few months.

Best number 10 we’ve had since Martin Hanzal.

Does Horcoff have to give permission each time they do it?
