Re: 2020 Stars Off-Season Thread
Close to league minimum. I was curious if the announcement would call him a winger or d, and they’re calling him a defenseman.
I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.

I think that’s a really good signing. He’s solid and you can’t argue with the cost.

Seems like a minimum-wage replacement for Janmark on the PK.

He’s going to be fighting for a bottom pair d spot with Hanley, Sekera, and Fedun.

Great deal for Faksa at 3.25 mil cap hit. Less than I expected.

Stars cap space left.
Fantastic deal on Faksa, I'm surprised he didn't get more.

And because it's Nill, Faksa's deal has some NTC protections.

So if Seguin has surgery that takes him out for 4 months, does that mean we can put his salary on LTIR?

Re: 2020 Stars Off-Season Thread
Pysyk --- Very good prove-it deal at the minimum salary and duration. A no-risk deal that gives the Stars flexibility as he can be used on both D and F.
Faska --- I was expecting such a deal, though I'm a bit surprised with the 5 years. Not a fancy player but useful in the crease, in the faceoff circle and for the PK.
No surprise to see Janmark go. We couldn't offer him a reasonable deal at $2M for the same role as Cogliano, Dickinson, Comeau and Faksa. In fact I would try a line with the Dick, the Cog and the Com. This could be splashy.

Execs Unfiltered: Thoughts on Hall, trades and every NHL team’s offseason so far
We need a "remind me" feature for posts. I think the Pysyk signing is great. I'd like to be reminded of this post in 7 months when he blows coverage and we give up game-ending goal in a "win and you're in" last game of the season.
There’s been a lot of external speculation that the Dallas Stars will have to slash money off the payroll but so far the Stars have only been spending. The Stars anted up to get Anton Khudobin signed and got Radek Faksa on a long-term deal for a very reasonable $3.25 million per season. The Khudobin signing might have been longer than people wanted but there’s no denying the fit in Dallas.
“He’s a good fit,” said an exec. “You sit there and would you rather that deal be two years? Yeah. But it had to be three years to get it done and he deserved it.”
It didn’t make headlines but another executive highlighted the signing of defenseman Mark Pysyk for one year at $750,000.
“Pysyk for 750? Pysyk isn’t an All-Star but 750? That’s unbelievable,” he said.
