Another perfect scoring chance for a Seguin, and he missed the net.

TVA putting salt in the wound: no goals in his 15 SCF games.

Didn't he score one in the finals as a rookie in boston?

Watch them score two more quick ones only to dry up completely in the final five minutes.

No. He had one assist in their win over Vancouver and four assists in their loss to Chicago.

Correction, it's The Dick again. That would be funny for him to get the hattie in a lost cause.

Edit: in fact no, it's back to #4

Stars get a goal. Guess that's good. Then they get a PP opportunity and are just terrible on it. Clearly they thought the game was already over as well and didn't realize they should put forth a real effort on the PP.

No point in trying hard when you're trying to rope-a-dope the Lightning. Bowness is playing the long game.

Oettinger has stopped every shot he's faced in the playoffs. Just sayin'.

Gurianov gets a mouth full on the bench, for good measure. Fantastic.

(Note to myself: At least the North Stars managed to win the game 3 before getting crushed...)

Tampa's had one of these blowout games every series. At least we didn't get pasted 7-1 or 8-2. And had we not missed those three empty nets...

At least they gave us an entertaining run in what is probably the last NHL playoffs before western society as we know it collapses.

Yeah, curtains. We defend, and losing both Faksa and Comeau, who also bring intensity, no way to stop TB.

Well, we can start by not passing directly to their undefended top scorers in front of the net. Three of the five goals against (arguably four) were 100% preventable and the results of brain farts by the Stars more than individual greatness of the Lightning.

And on a positive note, the Stars had several grade A scoring chances they failed to score on. One was Cogliano early on when he had the puck on his stick and tried to redirect it instead of shooting it. One was rebound regular season Seguin should have been able to tap in. Gurianov had a breakaway he failed to turn into a shot on goal.

And Benn missed an empty net goal (great dive by I-don't-remember-who though).

Another difference is Tamps' sniper don't need thousands of opportunities to bury on grateful presents.

This is one of the things I thought about last night after the game - how many times did I say "How the *f-bomb* did that not go in??!!" to the TV.

TB cashed in when they needed to, took advantage of the incredibly poor overall team play, and still....bury one or even two of the glorious chances the Stars had, and that whole game is different.

To be clear, the score reflected the game. TB was way, way better, and the Stars looked like a team that hadn't seen game action in months. It was terrible. But......

That's the way hockey go. Coulda, shoulda, etc.
