Maybe because 4th liners can be picked up for free every summer and are not worth a draft pick?

Or run the risk of pissing off another GM/club b/c you don't want to burn bridges, especially for a bottom 6 player.

This off season is going to be very interesting. It will be short and budgets are going to be very uncertain. Add on top of that some planning and positioning with the upcoming Seattle expansion draft. Being an NHL GM this season is not going to be easy.

Someday there'll be a GM with the balls to prioritize doing his actual job over awkward golfing convos with other GMs.
