All we ever wanted through the Kari years was just decent goaltending. This is fabulous.

After the first 3 games of the flames series, I'd of never thought Dobby would be winning us games like he has. He was giving up some flukey goals early in that series.

If NBC is committed to playing every other night, Dobby might need a break.

I don’t think player fatigue is quite the same when there’s no travel. Razor didn’t call the Stars tired once even though they played 5 in 8 days or something like that.

Interesting point. Also, the schedule recently has even been less fucked up then a usual Western Conference schedule game start-wise.

Also, when Colorado has home ice we don't have to acclimate to high altitude. Ha. Never even thought of that.

This game ended almost an hour ago. Someone please tell me how great McKinnon is, going cold-turkey this long is painful.

Take joy in it. The only reason they keep praising him is because most of the rest of the Avs roster is playing like crap.

It had been so long that I had almost forgotten how insufferable Avalanche fans (and their TV crew) are online. There’s a reason we called them Avs Monkeys.
That Hanzal's so hurt right now.

All three periods were so different. First one was all Avs as expected but we limited somehow them to score only 1. Then it was all Stars in the second, straight out of the eye of the storm. The Avs missed opportunity on their 5-on-3 was the turning point where they forced plays and were way too predictable.

The third period was, IMO, the best one, the reference to keep in mind. The Stars did everything perfect, they were waiting the Avs high, kept on a strong forecheck while limiting turnovers at their strict minimum. Colorado McKinnon was forcing his plays and his all offense became totally messy.

You can't rely on a unique top line in playoffs. It's nice and fancy during the regular season when all media are licking your balls and makes you a contender but it's a whole different story now. The Stars are definitely in their heads.

We’re rolling now, just turning into a machine. Whatever line or D pair is out there, just do the same things, hound the puck, hit (60 hits last night), take away their time and space, next up.

Khudobin throughout, hasn’t really won a game or lost a game, he’s just been doing his job. Which is odd, usually goaltending has a bigger impact. But last night he really held the Stars in. He’s the man now.

We are starting to wear them down. Stay on ‘em and don’t let up.

Indeed. It's hard to believe only a couple of weeks ago this team couldn't be relied on to protect a 2 goal lead. That was a convincing period and a good sign.

A couple of weeks ago "protecting a lead" meant skating backwards and taking it up the ass. Last night's third period, the Avs had a couple of dangerous flurries in our zone but most of the period was spent by us chewing up the clock in the other two zones. Intercepting passes, forcing the Avs to skate backwards, etc etc... actual defense! MacKinnon still got two good looks at the end but was like 3 feet off both times, rimmed around the boards and out of danger (I'm convinced his post-Pavelski groin was an issue).

Some insiders think Faksa could receive an hostile offer at the offseason.

Jared Bednar is a bad coach with a lot of talent to cover up his bad coaching.

Ah, yes, the offer sheet. How often do those media-induced rumours come to pass? Once a decade?

Approximately, but there's always been some kind of gentlemen's agreement stipulating that you don't do this anymore. Let's see if Montréal broke it last year with Aho.

(That being said, I highly doubt he'll receive one)

There’s no way we’d match even if some one did offer sheet him. Take the picks and run.

Yeah, the 3rd period was not sitting back in the zone and putting no pressure on the Avs. It was active protecting of the lead.

What kind of offer are we talking about? $5 million? $6 million? The comp for either number is a 1st round and 3rd round pick.

He’s currently making $2.2 million.

I don't understand why more teams don't use offer sheets for players that round out the bottom of the roster but require virtually nothing in picks as compensation.
