Looked like Calgary didn't have enough guys on the ice there for a second.

Amazing how harmless our first line looks compared to our 4th.

Dickinson needs to be told by the league he has to wear a full face cage. His face is a stick and puck magnet.

They can’t skate. It’s sad to watch.

lol. Gurianov has 4 goals, 5 points, and still has less ice time than any forward not named Kiviranta.

That’s fine. It’s time to start playing Benn-Seguin-Radulov heavy minutes. In a blowout, it’s a good idea to play your fourth line a lot to rest your productive lines for the next round.

Love how the announcers keep ragging on Lucic. Pierre McGuire uncharacteristically silent when they do so.

Really embarrassing the way our “first” line started the game tonight in a huge elimination game. They looked like they were drunk or something.

The rest of the team? Fine.

That's the second time in NHL history that a rookie (Yes, Gurianov is still listed as a rookie) scores 4 goals in a play-off game.

Huh. So that’s what it feels like to be on the winning side of one of those.

We are now the second highest scoring team in the playoffs. Behind Colorado.

And the other rookie was Tony Hrkac, who was my first-ever favorite Dallas Star.

Bullshit. Hrkac wasn’t even his mom’s favorite Star.

Frugs will back me up. My second-ever Stars game, Hrkac scored two (2) wraparound goals. For 20 years after that, anytime anyone scored a wraparound, he "scored a Hrkac."

It’s been 33 years since the Flames last beat a team not named the Canucks in the first round, the 1987-88 Kings.

Dumb stat but Stars make NHL playoff history by becoming the first ever team to trail by three, and then lead by four LOL.

Today was also Dimebag Darrell’s birthday and we got to hear Puck Off seven times. Pretty cool.

Rewatched the late replay. Holy *poo poo*, this must have been what it was like to play against Kari in 2014 and 2016.

Stupid stats announcement: Khudobin had more points in this game that the whole first line.

Last time the Stars scored at least 7 goals in postseason: May 6th 1991 when the then-North Stars defeated Edmonton in the Western Conf. final.

At least for a day, I'm going to try to take a positive outlook for this team. While the team clearly has flaws, so do about 27 other teams in the NHL. Even with those flaws, this group has proved remarkably resilient over the course of this season.

When the team started 1-7-1, they could have completely folded. They didn't.

When the coach got fired for being a drunk idiot in the middle of one of the best winning streaks in the league, they could have completely folded. They didn't.

When the team got down 2-0 early in the second highest attended game in NHL history, they could have completely folded. They didn't.

When the team went on a losing streak only to have the league shut down by a global pandemic, they could have completely folded. They didn't.

When the team was 12 seconds away from going down 3-1 in the Calgary series (after having the tying goal disallowed), they could have completely folded. They didn't.

When the team was down 3-0 six minutes in to a close out playoff game, they could have completely folded. They didn't.

Bottom line is, with all of its flaws, this team is advancing to the second round of the playoffs and will be one of eight teams still playing. I'm going to try to enjoy that fact for at least a day.

Very good post. I have to admit that after the 3-0 scored by the Flames where the Stars were just pathetic, I was about to shut down the TV and go to sleep. Then I thought ok just this period: if they manage to score at least one, then maybe they can come back (Thank you Eric Fichaud). And if they score quickly in the second, then we have a new game. And what a new game !

And I realized this morning that I have been drinking wine the whole game in an official cup from Calgary's 1988 Winter Olympic Games.
