Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Negatory, ghost rider.

I mean seriously though. In game 3, we couldn't buy a goal despite playing better than last night. Hockey is a weird organism. Every game is uniquely different.

That was a weird game for sure. I couldn't believe when they were down 3-0 that they'd actually come back... maybe to tie it at best. But to get 7 goals? This *fargin'* team.

I’m still processing what it’s like to be on the winning side of a meltdown like that. We are used to being the ones who blow it.

Hopefully we didn't use up all of our offense.

I still remember the Minnesota game 6 where we let a lead that size vanish, so I was never entirely comfortable.

Oh yeah. That was a top 5 Stars nut kick moment.

It turns out I like this team when they ignore Bowness' coaching.

Can we make sure Colorado also has Kari in goal? Because playing against Kari really seemed to work out for us against the Flames.

Well, we won the game but we had something like a 4 goal lead in the 3rd and it came down to the wire and a disallowed goal. That was when I realized no lead was safe w/ these guys.

I'm not sure if it's Bowness and not the previous guy who instilled the system.

But it was a real relief not to try clinging to a 1 goal lead the whole time.

Oh I misread and was thinking about that one game against Minnesota where all we had to do was beat them to make the playoffs and got our ass kicked.

Oh yeah. We have a real recent history of not showing up in big games. Last night seemed like it was starting along that vein.

It was definitely a Montgomery thing, but Bowness has taken it to extremes. Razor was actually advocating for "playing the Stars game" last night after going up a goal.

I don't understand that. Sitting back and protecting the lead rarely works very well. Last night, they kicked Calgary in the nuts, then they put the boot to their throats and never let up. Surprise, surprise, they kicked ass, scored a ton of goals, and completed gutted Calgary in every facet.

I don't mind playing defensive-oriented hockey. But it's pretty damn hard for Calgary to score if the Stars are in Calgary's zone most of the game instead of sitting back and conceding 66% of the rink to Calgary and hoping their defensive structure sees them through.

Oh, they tried to play Bowness hockey. The top six (6) forwards in ice time last night combined for zero (0) points. In a game where we scored 7 goals. Blake Comeau was second overall in ice time.
It's just that Heiskanen and our fourth line (14 minutes apiece) dragged us kicking and screaming into an entertaining blowout.

When a team gets the lead the game changes. They D aren't gonna pinch so much and the other team is turning it up a notch too. Not that the Stars don't stop playing when up a couple goals, b/c they do. There's just more to it than saying oh, we're gonna protect the lead and not try to score.

I think they missed the playoffs with something like 95-96 pts.

All I can remember of that game is Robidas sliding at 0.002 mph just to prevent the final EN goal.

I get that. If you're protecting a lead, you don't need both defenseman down by the dots, etc. But the Star generally take it to an extreme, and that just really doesn't work.

Did you see the Isles holding a two goal lead last night? Washington had only 21 shots on goal, but 66 shot attempts and the Isles held the Barry Trotz defensive fort down to perfection. Ended up with 2 empty netters too.

Here’s the thing that worries me, though. Even as an offense first team, we still couldn’t protect a lead for *poo poo*. It looks the same as always. Even pre-Monty it was the same. May just be the players who lead this team.

I mean the dude had 20 goals this season despite not playing for the first few weeks and getting little ice time.

He has definite flaws, but I can't think of many Stars right now without them.

He’s a guy with one trick, but it’s the most important trick in hockey.

*f-bomb*!” – A Stars player reacts audibly and forcefully, before the goal horn can even sound after Andrew Mangiapane opened the scoring.

They’re on the ropes!” – Flames bench shortly after the Flames took a 2-0 lead in Game 6, as the Flames dumped it in and went forechecking. Calgary would make it 3-0 moments later.

Wooo! Let’s *fargin'* go!” – Dallas bench after Denis Gurianov scores early in the second period to reduce Calgary’s lead to 3-2.

If I’m a Calgary fan, there’s still hope… But I’m not!” – Kevin Bieksa trolling Flames fans while Calgary is down 6-3 after two periods in Game 6.

Bieksa has been really good and insightful on the CBC panel. One of his funniest lines was after Calgary had pulled Talbot. He says, "and they put in Rittich who hasn't played since Y2K."

Unfortunately CBC is not broadcasting any more Dallas games at least thru game 4.
