Get those teeth brushed between periods. Tiny circles. Put in that work, Scuba.

Perry can't skate, but he can still do neat things with the puck. That's one heck of a smart pass.

Fun fact: teams that win 50% of the first two games end up winning the series 50% of the time.

Fine. Now I'll go walk the dog. The heat index is still 92. Fuuuuuck.

Barely is right. Despite an offensive explosion you aren't likely to see again and actually outplaying and outskating the opponent which you aren't likely to see again, it still took a last minute heroic play from Perry to just barely avoid blowing it. But going down in 5 makes for a nice moral victory.

If Bowness comes out and moans about how they didn't play their game, I'm going to write a letter to the UIL.

4.00 GAA for the entire series surely is a recipe for further success.

There was a lot of good from that game. Some of the same old demons visited the Stars (poor first shift and goal against, ill-timed and unnecessary Radulov penalty, head-scratching ice time for Gurianov), but I'll take the win.

Given the two first period, we know they are able to produce something interesting on the ice. So there's some hope. Next task would be to avoid softies and the now-traditional Klingover that cost us a goal.

Personal note: screw TVA Sports. They always broadcast all play-off games across their 3 channels. This year they only show half of it, of course all in the east, except Vegas. They could have shown yesterday's game, they went with golf coaching and woman wrestling instead.

This team sucks.

But it's good to have a playoff win.

A few notes:

Those first two periods were the tits. Other than Lindell a couple of times, we did almost zero chip-and-chase, and we skated the puck out of our zone really well. Calgary had basically zero chance to set anything up, and even their second goal came from a prayer shot past the blueline. Calgary was fortunate not to be down 6-1 after 40 minutes. I guess the best defense is to always be skating it toward the opposing team's net. Take note, Defensive Guy Bowness.

Stars played Bowness Hockey for 18 minutes, were outshot like 20-0 and let in three goals, one of which was maybe kicked in.

Bishop looked really shaky all night. Like, Kari-level shaky. Is he suffering from 9% lung capacity or something?

Pierre McGuire had a raging, throbbing erection for Milan Lucic all game. My favorite part of the broadcast was when Lucic lined up Oleksiak in the corner, and Oleksiak calmly used Lucic's momentum to shove him into the boards. McGuire somehow saw that happen and STILL thought that Lucic smashed into Oleksiak, when it looked a lot more like my 7 year old charging me and me gently turning him aside. McGuire made Lucic the third star of the game, even tho all he did was charge Klingberg all game.

Oleksiak was a beast. Other than one horrible turnover, he was solid AF. And then he scored the game-winner. I think I may have woken up my neighbor when that happened.

Benn really walloped Tkachuk, twice. 'Beast Mode' indeed. Oleksiak didn't give an inch when both Tkachuk and Benn's momentum crashed into him.

Cam Talbot really, really sucks.

We dominated a pretty shitty team and still barely won by one goal. I'm not sure if Calgary has the horses to beat us, especially on D, where they rely on one Norris trophy winner, TJ Brodie, and then 4 replacement level guys who can barely skate.

In a game where the top cap hit line actually was playing very well, I'm fine with it. They were getting extra shifts, and it worked out well. Might as well ride that wave while it's here.

So when is Game 5? I didn’t bother looking at the schedule past the first four games.

Fun fact about the Oleksiak goal: it was the by-product of the worst line change in recent memory. As the Stars came down, one Flames player came off, and no one on the bench got up to replace him. So it was basically a 5-on-4 with 40 seconds left. Kudos to Perry and Oleksiak for (maybe?) seeing/feeling that out, but.... man. Calgary blows.

He was the kid with the Charlie Brown round head that for some reason was around when he was like 14. Which looking back is *fargin'* weird.

Not trying to be a jerk, but I always thought he spent way too much time on those game day threads. Seriously. It looked like he spent hours on them each time. Waste of time.
