So, FYI, another unwritten rule of the board is — when the Stars get a win the poster who made the game thread gets to make the next game thread. You know, for luck.

Gotcha.

Bottom line, we're unofficially eligible for a loss

Was Troy asleep at the wheel here?

I guess playing the puck with a stick over Oleksiak's head is okay now? Is it because Khudobin was the next player to touch it?

How does Hall not get a game misconduct and a suspension on that? Bullshit.

A very positive first period. The usual trend of having a good start followed by a strong decrease in intensity and play has changed: except the first five minutes, it was an overall disaster. Lights are green for the following.

But it is understandable as the Stars are on the second of back-to-back game.

Oh wait...

Ugh, you can review penalties now? Let’s slow this thing down even more.

Apparently if it comes to a potential 5-min major (new rule). But no way Oleksiak's penalty was a major, it was even a necessary penalty just to send a message as the refs began to lose it from the non-call on Hall's kneeing.

Signs of life. At least this game won’t be a complete disaster.

I was out of state and didn’t know they had a back to back. I got home late this afternoon and blew through two DVRed football games before noticing there was a Stars game recording in progress. My bad.

By the way, defenseman haven’t been this active in joining the rush since Lindyball.

I noticed that from Miro in particular tonight. It almost seemed passive aggressive. Like “*f-bomb* these spares I have to play with, I’ll do it myself.”

Honestly, I knew from the very beginning that Troy would not be able to make it for a reason or another, and it was absolutely obvious that the Stars would win tonight.

:Winky:

I've been thinking about that a lot lately with whether he'd decide to sign long term here. He'll look at Benn and Seguin and be like "I gotta cover for those two for the next 5 years?" and then decide to do whatever he can to get out of here.

I predict he would sign if offered a nice one, like almost every player in the history of sports.

It’s funny because earlier they were characterized by not being able to come back in games.

Btw, sequence of Klingberg-Gurianov-Hintz on that game winning goal was choice.

Finally. He's been actually bad so far this year. No great offensive plays to make up for his defensive mistakes. Nice to see him making the passes we're used to the past couple of games.

Another scratching-head win. No one would have expect that after these awful two periods.

Quite unusual these last days weeks months, but I really liked Benn. Don't jump on me, but he demonstrated a true leader behavior (well, what he's supposed to do in every game, I concede) with a great intensity and physical play. He got Ekman-Larsson's address and he served him his good medicine, never released his bone. In general the whole team showed their physical presence which was nice to see.

Oleksiak's penalty was necessary and I would say it was the turning point even if it didn't immediately materialize on the scoresheet.

That being said, I won't happen all the time. This team still has a major issue with its play and the fact that they are not able to play a full 60-minutes effort. I still believe Monty's firing broke a thing in this squad and that Bowness cannot be in charge for the whole season. Just a bittersweet feeling.

You don't need to apologize for praising Benn when he plays well. A fun thing about Benn comes from the Dallas Morning News Writer. He's a younger guy not from Dallas. The only Jamie Benn he's covered game to game is the one we've all grumbled about. As part of getting to know the team he's covering, you can tell he likes to try to go back and watch some older stuff on youtube because he posts things about it on Twitter every now and then.

This tweet made me laugh because it's clearly him finding old (er... young) Benn and saying to himself, "Holy *poo poo*. This is why they gave him that contract."

I thought Benn’s multiple blind drop passes for breakaways going through other direction on the power play were awesome.

There is a reason he can't keep up at times today and you're seeing it in that video. You can't play that way for 20 years.
