Re: GDT 12/22 Stars vs. Flames 6pm CST
Calgary spent most of December on a seven game win streak to jump up into a wild card spot, but they enter this game on a three game losing streak.
Since firing Monty, the Stars are 3-2-1. Not a bad record, but they haven’t looked so great.

I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.

Benn appropriately demoted to the second 4th line.

Whatever, they need a lot more pep in their collective step.

I think it's telling how the Stars keep reminding everybody that he's the interim:
I guess we'll see just how bleh the team's spirits really are when we watch The Road To The Winter Classic.

That Hanzal's so hurt right now.

The defense has completely collapsed since Monty was fired.

Oleksiak wouldn’t have taken a puck to the balls if Monty was still coaching.

And our PK is the last wheel to come off.

They seriously need to consider looking for a new coach now.

Stars are getting Benjamin-Buttonized. They're getting backwards in the schedule and in most every aspects of the game.

Depending on what Monty did, firing him may turn out to be a huge mistake.

Defense seems to be the problem, we need to get Hitch in here on a one year deal to shore up the D.

Backlund made Miro look like a pylon on the 4th goal. Concerning. Bones needs to run the D and they need to bring in a real HMFIC.

I hear Jim Montgomery needs a job.

Getting lit up for 12 goals in 2 games is totally *fargin'* unsatisfactory.

Since Monty was fired, seven games have been played. Seguin and Radulov have produced good offense, but no one else is doing much of anything.
Pavelski, Hintz, Klingberg, and Gurianov each have three points.
Benn, Faksa, Dickinson, and Perry each have two points.
Heiskanen has one point.
Bishop has a save percentage of .889 with a 3.40 GAA (keep in mind these numbers include a 26 save shutout).
No one else is expected or asked to produce offense, so I'll leave them off. Don't take that to mean I'm hiding someone having a great streak of games. I'm not. No one else has more than three points over these seven games.

They’ve also looked good as a team in zero games. You could argue maybe that Nashville game, but that seemed to be more about the Preds sucking than the Stars playing well.

Shutting out maybe the worst team in the league was a nice win, I guess.

I just think this is the team. 1-7-1 isn’t in the too distant past.
This wasn’t their worst play, though. If they would have translated that early second period push into a goal or two, it would have been a different game. But they came up with nothing.

The Canadian broadcaster, Cassie Campbell, in the first, says, Benn having a good game, responding to being put on the 4th unit. LOL, right? Then early in the second period she corrects herself, saying, really it’s the 3rd line.
