Boudreau's going to have a heart attack.

We look great when the other team scores on themselves three times

Playing like *poo poo* for 37 minutes only to steamroll one of the shittiest teams in the league is going to provide some wonderful false hope.

This is why I'm not really thrilled about this. I hate that I'm not, but I'm not.

Oleksiak’s assist moves him within one point of catching for the scoring lead among Dallas Stars Jamies.

So... this whole period has been attack. D-men are swirling around the offensive zone. Guys are cycling and looking for passes. Players are rotating.

I know the Wild suck, but this period sure looks different from the Stars. Like they really did decide to throw away their cautious defense-first approach.

Maybe they decided to stop trying to do what Monty wanted?

Someone must have shown them a Monty interview from before he coached a game last season.

I'd say that the third period was the most convincing one of the season.

Do you think Monty showed them pictures of his family inbetween the second and third?

I think he showed them the Winnipeg weather forecast and said “it can be your new home.”

This team is so maddening. From Shapiro's summary of the game:

17. Something rather crazy to think about right now: Against the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Stars were a bad third period away from a five-game win streak and undefeated homestand.

I’m glad I didn’t bail on the game/team/sport after the first period, because that comeback was amazing.

Watching Gurianov back check to get a turnover brought a little tear to my eye. I think the kid is going to be all right.
Could of.

Looking coldly at the game, I'm beginning to have some concerns about Monty's coaching. His passive attitude, looking clueless and unpowerful when things went really ridiculous got on my nerves. Maybe it's not necessary to yell at the guys à la Tortorella, but at least show that you are truly pissed and get your message understood by everyone. Radulov gave the spark but sometimes the coach also needs to take his responsibilities and shake his players. They waited be the 0-3 behind before getting their thumbs off their asses and start to play; this is still unacceptable. Gladly it worked against a weak team but this relentless and urgent trailing hockey at high tempo with three lines won't result in the same outcome all the time.

Sekera was injured but why splitting Klingberg and Heiskanen again ? Defensively things became to look good with that combination, then you mixed things and you get two brain cramps that led to two goals. At that point, keep Klingberg-Heiskanen together and alternate your rotation between these two for the third pair. Changing things just to change things doesn't guarantee to play with consistency, and that's what Monty seems to do IMO: change things just to do something.

Let's see if this third period will serve as a reference and if he will keep his offensive lines like that for the next game. In that sense, I would be in favor to keep the classic Radulov-Benn-Seguin line, so that they can fix their own respective *poo poo* together if necessary.

Starting Sekera basically insures that you'll be down to five dmen midway through the second period. And be better off for it.
