Looks like the Stars are speculated to be active on the trade market if they don't start winning (duh).

Also keep reading crap about Monty being on the hot seat. Sure, okay. But, why isn't Nill?!?!?

Yeah, "in a couple of weeks if things don't turn around." That sounds like too little, too late...wait, so it sounds like Nill!

Some assumptions:

- The coach is always the first fuse to change when it comes to take a decision
- Monty's contract is shorter than Nill's
- The team built by Nill reached the 2nd round of the playoffs last year >>> The problem with the losing streak is more coming from the coach
- The problem is how the players are performing right now, rather than their profile. PP is anemic, PK is terrible as well as other aspects of the game where the coach is responsible for.

I don't know if it does make sense or not, it's just my gut feeling.

If Monty gets fired, then Nill will too. GMs don't get to hire more than 3 coaches and survive. But I can see Monty leaving if Gags wants to just completely clean house.

Who can we even trade that would make a difference? Sending away Janmark for another team’s Janmark probably isn’t going to light a fire under this thing.

Seguin is just as good on faceoffs. And beyond faceoffs, I feel like Faksa is mostly coasting on a reputation as this point as a “good defensive forward.” He hasn’t really impressed me this year the way he did last year defensively, and combine that with no offensive contribution, then fine, trade him. Whatever.

Then we need another center period, because then we're just back to having one actual center, and he's not even that good at center. Which, historically, has required a lot of skating, and Seguin can't keep up. You could leave Hintz there, but I don't think he has the structure in his game to play there super effectively.

I hope we lose. I don't want anyone in the upper management under some delusion that this is actually a good hockey team because we win a game or two. Lose a few more and hit the reset button, please.

The player with the highest value who is the most easily replaced is, for me, Faksa. Dickinson can play his position and do fine at it. Or we could hang on to a guy that's playing like *poo poo* and will score maybe 12 goals this year. That'll make this team great.

Khudobin would have some trade value. Although his value would be higher later in the year when you can sell him to a team loading up for a playoff run.

Faksa is a slower and less productive Eakin. He's fine, but he's an RFA this offseason and will be looking for a raise. He's probably going to want $5-6 million a season, and he's not worth that.

He has not been good this year, so I don't really see how we'd be much worse. Plus, we're barely above the worst we could be.

Making a trade just to make a trade doesn't bring anything, but this is quite an important aspect to consider.

I bet the best you get for him is a 4th round pick. He's a nice player, but he's still a backup goalie.

That said, I'd still do the trade. Either AHLer can come up and be the backup. And trading him would shave some cap space to make it easier to make other moves.

He won't be looking for 5-6 mil per season.

The teams' problems are not Faksa. And while we can't know exactly what is amiss with the team, coach, infighting, fat cat syndrome, horseshit fallout, trading our best defensive forward will not fix it.

Yeah, the big problem is that most our top forwards are each on pace for 10 goal seasons, except for Seguin. He might actually crack 20 goals.

Its always funny when a third line guy or lower hits someones hot button as an untouchable player or the root of all our problems. Either way I don't think him being on the team or not being on the team would make a big impact. I just think he has the most realistic value that other teams would want to pay for in a trade.

Trading Faksa won't do anything because Faksa is no different than every non-Roope/Janmark player: playing worse than he did last year. When it's one or two players, well, you can blame injuries or grit or whatever. But when it's the entire team, it's on the coach.

Ok, but if this season is tanked, you're down to the question of who to trade for future help. It's not about blaming Faksa but looking at him as one of the few trade pieces with actual value.

It's not like trading for draft picks would be of value to this franchise.

There is no market for Benn unless a ton of salary is absorbed by the Stars.
