Stars should be able to get it for less. Maybe $10 million per year.
With the tax stuff. Say for same as Kucherov

Do they factor property taxes in to these? Most players end up buying houses where they play, right?

It's not just the actual cash received. The AAV is important for status and NHLPA reasons.

Here's the bargain signing of free agency.

I got a ranch in downtown Dallas/I buy diamonds by the ton/Chase cuties in my Cadillac/Drill oil wells just for fun/But when it comes to boots, I need a deal/That will fit me right, toe to heel/So I get my boots at Western Warehouse.

Unless Connor McDavid is going to the Blues this season, that's a waste of $1.7 million.

Just a reminder that we could have had Pacioretty, but we took Ladislav Nagy instead.

Pacioretty will end up with the Sharks because I hate him and them. Perfect fit.

The Sharks also have tons of cap space and were supposed to get both Tavares and Karlsson (plus every notable UFA) according to their fans.

Fleury signs a 3 year/$21 million extension with Vegas. He was great this season, no doubt. Wonder how that contract will age?

Seems like a risk, but he’s probably being paid for his winning personality, with Vegas thinking he may be in a backup role in that last year.

Is Vegas in an odd spot where they're not going to use all of their cap room in the near future? Makes me wonder if they're willing to give him a stupid contract just because he's a fan favorite.

That's entirely possible. It will be interesting to see how Vegas fans react to a struggling goaltender or a struggling team. Wonder how long the honeymoon lasts - probably longer than most with the goodwill they built up this year.

Ray Emery drowned in Hamilton, ON.
He was swimming with some friends at a yacht club, went for a dive and never resurfaced. Police found his body later in the day. He was 35.

He was apparently wearing all his goaltender equipment and couldn't get out.

Ok, not really but in my mind that's how I pictured it. It was like Frederick Barbarossa going on crusade.

His death is weird. It looks like he dove off his friend's boat and just never came back up. How far above the water is the deck of that boat and how shallow is the water where he dove in?

Very strange.

He's Canadian, so he was genetically obligated to say "sorry" to every fish he touched on the way down, which sapped all his oxygen.

It's surprising how often this exact story happens, though.
